The Legend of Cool Chicken

Have you heard the legend of Cool Chicken? It is our most memorable (and talked about) memory aide. As it turns out, nursing material is a lot more fun to learn when you make up silly stories to "explain" the concepts.

This wacky hint has its origin in our Pharmacology videos!

Colchicine is a medication used to treat an acute gout attack.

HINT: Colchicine kind of looks like 'cool chicken'.

Guy to his friend with a chicken: "Hey man, cool chicken. OUCH! Your chicken just pecked and cut my gouty toe!"

The Level Up RN community loved this hint, and it was the reason we started adding more hints to our flashcard decks.

The Cool Chicken highlights a silly memory device that makes it easier to learn the material you need to know!

Pharm Flashcards

These flashcards are SO helpful for my Pharmacology exams. There are a handful of meds that are not included but it is most likely because they are not commonly used. I'm so glad I bought these flashcards and they are helping me with my Medical-Surgical exams too when I need to reference a medication. I highly recommend these flashcards and I showed my friends these and then 2 of them also ordered them!

Super super helpful

I am a inpatient pharmacy technician at a hospital and I am also in nursing school. Ideally, I have a good understanding of the generic and trade names of drugs but not so much the mechanisms and/or side effects. These cards have helped me soo much! In a way, I have been humbled. It made me realize how much I did not know and how much I have learned just by reviewing these cards one system at a time. These cards are where it's at!!
