Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) may have prerenal, intrarenal, or postrenal causes.

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) may have prerenal, intrarenal, or postrenal causes.

Prerenal causes include shock, sepsis, or hypovolemia.

Intrarenal causes may be trauma to the kidneys, hypoxic renal injury, or toxic medications.

Postrenal causes include mechanical urine outflow obstructions, such as stones, tumors, or BPH.
