DASH diet & hypertension

The DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension):

Low in saturated fat, cholesterol (e.g., red meat), sweets, added sugars, and sugar-containing beverages. High in potassium, magnesium, calcium, protein, and fiber.

Emphasizes low sodium, high potassium, and high calcium foods

Foods emphasized: Fruits, veggies, low-fat dairy, whole grains, fish, poultry, nuts.
