Ileostomoy versus Colostomy

Ascending = liquid, Transverse = semi-solid, Descending/Sigmoid = formed.

A patient with an ileostomy has a surgical opening created from the ileum. Bowel movements will be loose or watery. A colostomy, however, is created from the large intestine and the consistency of the bowel movements will depend on the location in the colon.

Ascending = liquid, Transverse = semi-solid, Descending/Sigmoid = formed.
